Hello Neighbor is a quest game developed by Dynamic Pixels studio. In this game, you control a character who is trying to reveal the mystery behind his neighbor by sneaking into his house.

Gameplay: Alpha Shot First

The gameplay of Hello Neighbor is pretty average for the quest genre. You can move around and interact with objects by, for example, relocating a box and jumping on it to get inside the house through the window. In order to complete the game, you will have to finish several puzzles, find keys, and correct interactions, which will lead you to the Neighbor’s basement. Many players report in their reviews that they enjoyed alpha-versions of the game better, as the completion was more variable, and you could find your own ways to get through certain puzzles.

One of the key features of the game is the AI-controlled Neighbor. The developers claim that he can adapt to the player’s behavior and set traps for his most traveled routes. Gamers enjoyed this feature in the alpha-versions, but in the release version, it does not work properly: the AI behaves weirdly from time to time.

Graphics and Controls: Average

Visually, Hello Neighbor looks average on mobile. The graphics are rather simple and lack details, making the game look like one of the low budget Unity engine games. However, Hello Neighbor has its own style, which is especially noticeable with objects and the house interior. The shapes are strange, which directly corresponds to the mystery of the house.

The controls are pretty average as well. You can move your character and interact with objects in several ways. You can pick up or drop items and use different keys for different doors. The controls are carefully adapted to mobile devices, making the game comfortable to play.

Conclusion

We cannot recommend Hello Neighbor to everyone, as the alpha version of the game was exactly what the developers intended to make, but it was not finished. At the same time, the finished game does not always work as intended. The game will appeal to quest genre fans, but others may put it on hold right now.

Pros : The game has its own style;
A good quest game, where you get no hints;
AI opponent, adapting to your playstyle.

Cons : AI does not always work properly;
There is much less variety in completion, compared to the alpha version.
